HUNTINGBURG — Police took a man into custody Monday, accusing him of attempted robbery, domestic battery and other offenses.
The Huntingburg Police Department was called at 11:21 a.m. to the report of a domestic battery in progress in the city. Officers located a woman with visible injury who was evaluated in the back of an ambulance.
The woman, who was not transported, alleged Walter M. Delgado, 33, 623 Bretz St., Huntingburg, had struck her and attempted to grab her wallet when children were present.
The victim in Monday’s incident is the protected person in a protective order against Delgado, according to Huntingburg police who had been investigating alleged violations of that order by Delgado since late July.
Authorities booked Delgado into the Dubois County Security Center at 1:23 p.m. Monday on preliminary charges that included Level 3 felony attempted robbery, Level 5 felony domestic battery, Level 6 felony intimidation and misdemeanor invasion of privacy.
