On Thursday, May 16, 2019, the family of Louise Mehringer lost their most loving and patient mother and grandmother.

She was born August 25, 1928, in Jasperto the late Mary (Wahl) and Aloysius Heichelbech. In 1949, she married Dennis Mehringer at St. Joseph Church in Jasper, after his return from military service in Germany.
In 1961, they moved to Evansville and formed their insurance agency, of which she was an integral part. In the years following the birth of her 11th child, Louise achieved the Chartered Life Underwriter designation.
Louise was a devout Catholic and member of St. Benedict Cathedral in Evansville, where all of her children were educated. In recognition of her and her husband’s service to the church, they were inducted into the Brute’ Society in 2001. Louise was active in the parish as a Eucharistic minister, and served on the parish council and as secretary of the its St. Vincent DePaul Society. She and Dennis were weekly visitors of the residents at the Little Sisters’ home and entertained patients at the Evansville State Hospital each Christmas season. She was also a member of the Serra Club, the Vanderburgh County Right to Life, the Legion of Mary, and the Altar Society of St. Benedict Cathedral. Louise was an avid bridge player and taught many women to play, enjoying the game as much as the social interaction.
