Louise M. Zehr, 92, of Jasper, passed away at 5:49 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2019, in Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
Louise was born in Dubois on August 17, 1927, to Edward and Albertina (Miller) Hemmerlein. She married Harvey J. Zehr on January 3, 1948, in St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Dubois. He preceded her in death on November 2, 2016.
She was graduate of Dubois High School.
Louise previously worked at Jasper Wood Products, and she then retired from 5th Street Elementary School where she was a custodian for several years.
She was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Dubois.
She enjoyed cooking, gardening, bird watching and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are two daughters, Brenda (David) Schmett, Huntingburg, and Karen (Bruce) Zehr-Miller, Stendel; one son, Mark (Kim) Zehr, Jasper; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death besides her husband are two brothers, Richard and Edward Hemmerlein.
Funeral services for Louise M. Zehr will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Dubois, with burial to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Dubois. Chaplain Jack Neighbors will officiate.
A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service time at St. Peter’s Church on Tuesday.
