Locals named All-State Football by AP

Cole Sigler

From Herald Staff Reports

The Associated Press has released its All-State football team selections across the classes, and there are some familiar names who made the grade.

Jasper's Carson Park earned an honorable mention in Class 4A at linebacker as the lone Wildcat to be recognized by the AP. Park helped Jasper to the second round of sectionals in 2019 and also earned recognition as an Indianapolis Colts Academic All Star for his performance in the classroom.

Heritage Hills finished as the Class 3A state runner-up, and the things the Patriots accomplished did not go unnoticed by the AP. Cole Sigler earned honors at defensive back, leading the team with eight interceptions. He also quarterbacked the Pats and earned the Mental Attitude Award. The AP honored Mark Doyle as an offensive lineman, and Jacob Wetzel was an honorable mention at linebacker.

Drew Day helped Forest Park to just its second winning season in program history, and the AP named him a punter on their Class 2A team. Day also eclipsed 1,000 yards this year and is leaving as the team's all-time leading rusher.
