Local athletes galore on PAC All-Conference squad

With the regular season now wrapped up for boys basketball, local conferences are beginning to announce their all-conference selections.

The first conference to announce their picks was the Pocket Athletic Conference. Several local athletes were selected to the all-conference team and honorable mention squad.

Southridge’s Colson Montgomery and Jaden Hayes, Forest Park’s Curt Hopf and Heritage Hills’ Simon Scherry, Murray Becher and Blake Sisley were all selected as PAC All-Conference selections. Southridge’s Joe LaGrange and Forest Park’s Drew Howard were both honorable mention recipients.

Montgomery led the Raiders in scoring with 21.1 points per game and 527 total points. He set a new single-season scoring record and also is just 12 points away from reaching the 1,000-point mark for his career. He also led the team with 166 rebounds.

Hayes finished his senior campaign averaging 12.8 points per game and 5.6 rebounds per game. The big man led the Raiders with 41 three-pointers made and 27 blocked shots.

LaGrange averaged 11.9 points per game and led the team from the free-throw line as he shot 78 percent (60-of-77). He also had a team-best 27 steals.

Hopf led the Rangers in scoring with 16.2 points per game and 8.6 rebounds per game as he finished with six double-doubles.

Howard made an immediate impact right away for Forest Park as a freshman. He averaged 8.5 points per game and scored in double-digits in four of the team’s final five games including a career-high 20 points in a comeback victory over Perry Central in the sectional.

Forest Park sophomore Curt Hopf was a slam dunk to make the PAC's all-conference roster. He's joined by teammate Drew Howard who made an immediate impact for the Rangers as a freshman.

Scherry was a jack of all trades for the Patriots this past season. He averaged 15.6 points per game, 5.1 assists per game and 3.0 steals per game. He also made a team-best 53 three-pointers.

Becher led Heritage Hills in scoring with 489 total points and an average of 20.4 per game as he cracked the 1,000-point scoring club as a junior.

Sisley continued to improve as a sophomore as he finished with an average of 12.8 points per game and 7.6 rebounds per game. He also led the Patriots with 20 blocks and seven double-doubles.

Also selected to the PAC All-Conference team was Tell City's Braeden Beard and Spencer Fest, Tecumseh's Logan Arnold, North Posey's Josiah Ricketts, South Spencer's Jace Kelly and Gibson Southern's Dawson Witte.

Tell City's Trent Arnold, South Spencer's Kobe Bartlett, North Posey's Jonathan Ricketts and Pike Central's Christian Benson were also selected to the honorable mention roster.
