Liseta T. Buechler, 88, of Jasper, passed away at 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.
Liseta was born in Jasper on Thanksgiving day, November 26, 1931, to Urban and Colette (Burger) Fuhs. She married Jacob G. “Jake” Buechler on May 26, 1951, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. He preceded her in death on January 21, 1994.
She attended St. Joseph Catholic Schools and worked as a cook and housekeeper for the St. Joseph Convent in Jasper with the Sisters of Providence for over 20 years. She also worked at the House of Yesteryear in Ferdinand.
She was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper and their Ladies Sodality, the St. Ann’s Sodality, and a member of the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella. She was also a lifetime member of the Brute’ Society, and a member of the Jasper VFW Auxiliary Post #673.
She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, flower gardening, and spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are one daughter, Ann Dalton (James), Jasper; one son, Allen L. Buechler of Jasper; two grandchildren, Rachel Seifrig (Tim), Aldophus, Kentucky, and Roxane Hoffman (Nik), Jasper; three great-grandchildren, Amalie Seifrig, Wyatt Seifrig, and Henry Hoffman; three sisters, Ruth Buechler, Jasper, Dorothy Lange, St. Henry, and Mary C. Lange (Clem), St. Henry; and two brothers, Earl Fuhs (Marilyn), Jasper, and Charles Fuhs (Bernice), Jasper.
Preceding her in death beside her husband were three brothers, John and Linus Fuhs, and Edward Fuhs who died in infancy.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Liseta T. Buechler will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.
A visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, and from 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. service time at the church on Wednesday. The Precious Blood Ladies Sodality and the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella will pray a rosary at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Precious Blood Catholic Church, the Lange Fuhs Cancer Center, or a favorite charity.
