Light ballast failure sends firefighters to facility

From Local Sources

HUNTINGBURG — Units of the Huntingburg Volunteer Fire Department responded to a pull-station alarm activation Thursday night at the Waters of Huntingburg.

While smoke was noticed, there was no fire associated with the 8:03 p.m. callout to the 1712 Leland Drive facility, according to Assistant Chief Glen Kissling. Instead, he added, firefighters traced the problem to a malfunctioning fluorescent light ballast.

Maintenance staff were called to address the issue so the system could be reset.

Two trucks and 12 firefighters were on the scene for 35 minutes.
