Library schedules basement books sale

FERDINAND — The Friends of the Ferdinand Library will host its Saturday basement book sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8. Those who attend are asked to enter the sale from the main floor of the library or through the north side doors off the Ferdinand Community Center parking lot.

Books displayed to commensurate with the month of February include romance novels, delectable desserts and wedding planning. Romance novels by authors such as Danielle Steel, Nora Roberts, Stephanie Laurens, Susan Mallory, Linda Lael Miller, Debbie Macomber, Susan Wiggs, Joan Johnston and many others will be on sale for half-price. The books are displayed in alphabetical order for easier perusing. There will be a drawing for a box of Valentine chocolates and some sweet treats for all those attending the sale.

Newly displayed fiction hardbacks and paperbacks are alphabetized by author and ready for sale. If there is a specific author or nonfiction topic that buyers are seeking, they are to ask a Friend for assistance. Nonfiction shelves of books on animals, sports and recreation, crafting and home decor have been restocked with newly-donated items.

Children’s, tweens’ and young adult books are plentiful. A recent large donation of DVDs are on display. The special table of first editions, author-signed and otherwise outstanding books is overrun with new additions.

All hardback books are $1; paperbacks are $.50; DVDs are $1; and children’s books, puzzles, games and special books are variously priced. Reminder that this month, the romance novels are half-price; hardbacks are $.50 and paperbacks are $.25. Donations of gently-used books and puzzles are always welcomed and appreciated. The donation bin near the basement doors has been full to the brim several times this past month. All profits go towards adult, teen and children’s programming and activities at the library.
