Library announces 2 oil painting classes

DUBOIS — Two oil painting classes are scheduled for 2020 at the Dubois Branch Library, 5506 E Main St. Early registration is recommended.

The first painting class will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 29. Brian Sutton, a certified Bob Ross instructor, will lead the class in painting “Majestic Mountains.”

Participants will learn how to paint mountains, grassy foothills and trees using oil paints. No experience is necessary. Bring paper towels for wiping brushes as well as snacks and drinks that may be eaten during class and short breaks. All materials are included, but participants may bring their Bob Ross painting brushes if they have them. They should put their names on them.

The second class is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 18. This one-day oil painting workshop will have participants learn and practice basic floral painting techniques before trying their hand on their own “Fantasy Flowers” painting. Bob Ross certified floral instructor Karen Saunders will show how to paint several styles of leaves and petals and then guide participants in applying their skills to create a finished piece.

This class will be limited to 15 painters. Participants are asked to bring paper towels as well as their own lunch, snacks and drinks. Each painter will be provided with two canvases and all the brushes and materials necessary for the workshop. Participants may bring their Bob Ross painting brushes if they have them.
