Leona C. Nigg, 93, Jasper, died at 9:10 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.
She was born in Holland on Feb. 1, 1920, to John L. and Corella (Schoppenhorst) Mutchman. She married Elmer Nigg on Feb. 1, 1947; he died May 14, 2003.
Surviving are son Steve Nigg of Granger, daughter-in-law Patricia Nigg of Jasper and a grandson.
She was preceded in death by a son, Daryl W. Nigg; a sister, Viola Lauderdale; and a brother, John L. Mutchman Jr.
Mrs. Nigg retired as a sales clerk at the 3-D Shopping Center in Jasper. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper and its women’s guild and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary to Post 673 in Jasper.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Trinity United Church of Christ. Pastor Jane Hillman will officiate. Entombment will be in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Becher & Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. The VFW Auxiliary will hold a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Church of Christ or a favorite charity.
