Left-of-center truck triggers collision

From Local Sources

DUBOIS — No injuries were reported when two vehicles collided while trying to avoid a left-of-center truck Monday morning southwest of Dubois.

Diana S. McKim, 45, Dubois, who was driving a 2007 Ford F-350, and Jordan C. Fromme, 19, French Lick, in a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, were both eastbound on County Road 300N when the 7:50 a.m. accident occurred west of Jasper-Dubois Road, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.

McKim and Fromme reported encountering an oncoming vehicle — it was described as a large, black dump truck — that was left of center, according to a deputy.

McKim pulled as far to the right as possible and stopped to allow the oncoming truck to pass. Fromme attempted to do the same but his car slid on wet leaves off the edge of the roadway.

The driver-side front of the Fromme Pontiac struck the passenger-side rear of the McKim Ford, according to the sheriff’s office.

Total damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
