Last Days of Summer

Hunter Stork, 12, fishes with his grandma, Sherry Stork, both of Jasper, off a bank along the Patoka River in Ireland on Monday. Hunter has fished at this location approximately 25 times throughout the summer and wanted to go once more before school starts on Wednesday. “You never know what you’re going to catch,” he said.

Laken Messmer, 5, of Jasper, rides her bike on the Courthouse Square with her mom, Honey Hosenfeld, close behind in Jasper on Monday. Laken said she has been riding without training wheels “for a long time” — two weeks. The family, including Laken’s dad, Jacob Messmer, stopped for ice cream downtown.
