JASPER — Andy Welsh with Sell4Free Welsh Realty, a sponsor of Koatz4Kidz, is warning possible Koatz4Kidz donors about someone who is allegedly calling people and asking for donations for the organization.
Several people have reported to Welsh about this happening and he doesn’t want people to get scammed.
He says the only Koatz4Kidz donation call someone might get would be from him and he would ask checks to be made payable to “Precious Blood Church” and no one else.
“This is such a good cause and the community gives so much, I don’t want this to get ruined,” Welsh said of Koatz4Kidz, adding that in recent years, the drive has collected 900 to 1,100 gently worn and new coats for kids in need.
The Koatz4Kidz drive will start Monday when the organization puts 30 donation boxes out into the community. The boxes will be collected Dec. 3 and coat distribution day will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, in Precious Blood Catholic Church’s gymnasium.
