Karen Wenning and Brett Matthews, both of Greensburg, exchanged wedding vows before Minister Josh Burnett on Saturday, March 23, 2013. The ceremony took place at 2:30 p.m. in Waynesburg Christian Church, Westport.
Dan and Deanna Wenning of Greensburg and Allen and Lisa Matthews of Huntingburg are parents of the couple.
John, Rachel and Ana Wenning provided music for the ceremony.
Mr. Wenning gave his daughter in marriage. The bride chose her sister, Lauren Huffmeyer, Greensburg, as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Jill Matthews of Huntingburg, sister of the bridegroom, and Amanda Gault and Kayla Brewer of Westport, Audrey Nobbe of Greensburg, Lauren Reed of Lafayette, Hillarie Schmett of Huntingburg and Natalie Moorman of Carol Stream, Ill., friends of the couple. Flower girl was Katherine Huffmeyer, Greensburg, niece of the bride.
The bridegroom chose a friend, Zach Schmett, Huntingburg, as best man. Groomsmen were Josh Hemmer and Erik Matthews, both of Huntingburg, cousins of the bridegroom, and Kyle Sermersheim of Eckerty and Nathan Frick, Justin Bayer, Richard Meiring and Cam Wertman, all of Huntingburg, friends of the couple. Ushers were Adam Huffmeyer, Greensburg, brother-in-law of the bride, and Ryan Schwinghamer of Huntingburg, Jason Bayer of Ferdinand and Eric Hermesch of Greensburg, friends of the couple. Ring bearer was Brance Huffmeyer, Greensburg, nephew of the bride.
The bride was attired in a fitted and flared white gown with a sweetheart neckline and beading.
The bridesmaids wore tea-length gowns of sky blue satin with sweetheart necklines.
Mrs. Wenning chose a sleeveless, long gown of beige chiffon with lace. Mrs. Matthews wore a sleeveless, charcoal gown with a beaded bodice, trumpet skirt and a jacket with cap sleeves.
A reception was held at St. John the Evangelist in Greensburg. Megan Applegate and Maria Wilkinson, cousins of the bride, registered guests.
After a wedding trip to El Dorado Maroma, Rivera Maya, Mexico, the couple is at home in Greensburg.
The bride graduated from South Decatur High School and Indiana State University and is a teacher at Greensburg Elementary School. Mr. Matthews, a graduate of Southridge High School, Huntingburg, and Indiana State University, is a teacher at Batesville Intermediate School.
