I would like to remind everyone about the upcoming events and opportunities to volunteer in the 4-H world. Kicking off the fair events will be the 4-H queen contest, which will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at Jasper Middle School. In addition to the queen contest, graduating senior and achievement awards will be presented.
Project check-in and community judging is set for 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 12. Animal check-in begins at 5 a.m. Saturday, July 13.
Volunteers are needed to watch the exhibit buildings all week during the fair. As a 4-H member, I feel like all 4-H’ers should take their turns in keeping the projects safe. The 4-H members and their parents can sign up by visiting the website www.extension.purdue.edu/dubois or by calling the extension office at 482-1782.
The Dubois County 4-H Fair officially opens Sunday, July 14, and runs through July 20. Grandstand events include hog wrestling, the Big Hat Rodeo, a garden tractor pull, a horse pull, a cornhole tournament, a lawn mower demonstration derby, a car ramp and roll show and a demolition derby. A truck and tractor pull show will be held Saturday, Aug. 10.
