Jon Glen Flickinger, 77, Vincennes
February 25, 2021Jon Glen Flickinger 77, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday February 23, 2021 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. He was born on October 31,1943 to Claude Douglas Flickinger and Esther Merle (Parson) Flickinger. He is survived by his wife Brenda (Chambers) Flickinger. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers: Claudia DeCoursey and her fiancé Bob Hendricks of Indianapolis, Bill Flickinger of Bicknell, Jean Ann Flickinger of Bicknell, Tom and his wife Jeanie Flickinger of Edwardsport, Sheary and her husband David Boldrey of Vincennes and Charley Flickinger of Bicknell. He is also survived by 24 soon to be 25 great and great- great nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Claude Flickinger Jr. and Robert Flickinger and two sisters Sharon Flickinger and Roseann Flickinger precede him in death.

Jon joined the Army at the age of 17 and was a veteran of the Vietnam war. Upon returning to the states, he married Brenda in 1968. He was employed by Miller Pipe Line and Hoosier Gas. Jon decided to go to culinary arts school to become a chef. He cooked for several well-known restaurants before going to work and retiring from Crane. His love for cooking led him to do some catering as well. He was always preparing some kind of food for people at work or his friends and neighbors. After living in Jasper for many years, they returned to Bicknell and Jon served 2 terms as Mayor of Bicknell. Jon loved people and was always striking up conversation wherever he went. He is loved and will be missed.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the Church of Nazarene, 1125 Durbin St. Bicknell, IN 47512, from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. with a service immediately following at 2:00 P.M. also at the church. Burial will follow in Bicknell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In memory of Jon please make memorial contributions to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516 Topeka, KS 66675.
