Joe Williams, 70, of Loogootee, passed away on Wednesday July 15, 2020, at his residence.
He was born on November 17, 1949, in Daviess County to Raymond Jerome and Dorothy (Larkin) Williams. He married Vernita Schipp on June 1, 1974, and she survives.
Joe was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, St. Vincent De Paul Conference, The Soil and Water Board, Martin County Farm Bureau, Shoals Library Board and volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry.
He retired from Loogootee School after teaching Math and Driver’s Ed classes for over 30 years. Joe was a lifelong dairy, grain, and hay farmer.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Jerome Williams; and his brothers-in-law, Bill Cox, Jack Kreilein and Louie Schipp.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Vernita; his son, Adam (Andrea) Williams of Bowling Green, Ketnucky; his mother, Dorothy Williams of Loogootee; his siblings, Richard (Vickie) Williams of Loogootee, David (Linda) Williams of Eberfield, Carl (Cindy) Williams of San Antonio, Texas, Donald Williams of Loogootee, Tina Cox of Loogootee and Mary (Mark) Fields of Loogootee; his sisters-in-law, Alma Kreilein of Jasper, Carol Schipp of Ferdinand and Norma (Jerry) Jerger of Washington; his brothers-in-law, Francis (Shirley) Schipp of Ferdinand and Harold (Barbara) Schipp, of Jasper; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 10 a.m. on Saturday July 18, 2020, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loogootee. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Bramble.
Visitation will be held on Friday, July 17, 2020, from 3 until 8:00 p.m. at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee, and also on Saturday July 18, 2020, at 9 a.m. at Blake Funeral Home until the time of service.
Memorial contributions can be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry, and Second Door Non- Traditional Scholarship with the Martin County Community Foundation Center in memory of Joe.
