JHS students excel in Legion programJune 3, 2019
JASPER — Jasper American Legion Post 147 of Jasper announces the winners of the American Legion Americanism and Government Testing program from Jasper High School for the year 2019.
Joshua Scheeter and Sara Haas were the top senior winners. Ryan Terwiske and Anna Kidwell were the top junior winners. Eli Hopf was the sophomore winner.
All five students placed top in their class within the 8th District, which consists of 36 American Legion Posts in the southern part of Indiana.
Each student received a $100 check and a post award certificate. In addition, each 8th District winning student received a $50 Visa Card from the 8th District of Indiana and a District Certificate.
Scheeter also placed first in the Department (State) of Indiana and was awarded a $1000 scholarship.
The annual testing program
allows young men and women the opportunity to receive scholarships based on their knowledge of current events, Indiana and U.S. government and the U.S. Flag.
