Jeeps hand out winter awards

DUBOIS — Several Northeast Dubois High School athletes collected awards during the school’s winter sports banquet Tuesday.

For the boys basketball team, Bryce Huebner was named MVP and also collected a career achievement award for scoring 1,003 points in his career. Huebner also picked up awards for leading scorer (16.2 points per game), and top free throw percentage (83 percent). Tyler Haas garnered the award for most rebounds (8.4 per game), Wade Friedman was recognized for most assists (3.5 per game) and Chad Hoffman was lauded for top field goal percentage (58 percent). Other honors went to Cameron Riecker (most improved, defensive award), Friedman (Jeeps Play 32 Award), Jacob Gress (top freshman/sophomore) and Jace Terwiske (Charlie Skaggs Mental Attitude Award). For the JV team, Drew Jacob (free throw percentage) and Luke Kerstiens (defensive award) collected honors, while Caleb Danhafer won the top free throw percentage award for the freshman team.

In girls basketball, varsity awards went to Nicole Dodd (MVP, field goal percentage, free throw percentage, rebounding), Taylor Borden (mental attitude), Haley Kinder (most improved), Emily Lueken (assists) and Brynn Hoffman (outstanding freshman/sophomore). For the JV squad, honors went to Morgan Seng (rebounding), Jenna Stemle (defensive award) and Talia Terwiske (free throw percentage).

For the cheerleading squad, Mariah Hart and Angel Gogel won the Darryl Friedman Cheerleading Award, and other honors went to Ashton Knies (tumbling award), Haley Thewes (flyer award), Erin Dorsey (base award), Kaytlynn Dodd (jumping award) and Allysia Overton (freshman/sophomore award).
