Jeep boys, Patriot girls prevail

The Northeast Dubois boys swimming team and Heritage Hills girls squad sustained their winning ways in Monday’s dual meet in Lincoln City.

The Jeep boys won their fourth dual meet in as many tries, surpassing the Patriots 84-60, while the Heritage Hills girls sailed 150-17 to remain unbeaten in six home dual meets this season.

Zach Wittmann (200-yard freestyle, 100 breaststroke) and Lucas Schulthies (50 freestyle, 100 freestyle) each grabbed a pair of victories for the Jeep boys, with Schulthies (22.61) winning the 50 free by a three-second margin. The Patriots received two top-place finishes from Nick Waninger (200 individual medley, 100 butterfly), while the Jeeps swam to first in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. Northeast Dubois’ Caleb Scherzinger (500 freestyle) and Heritage Hills’ Drew McCutchan (100 backstroke) each topped the field in their respective events.

Sara Burns notched a couple wins for the Patriot girls squad in the 100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke, while Emma Burns coasted to victories in the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle. Meranda Jester (200 individual medley), Bailey Pierson, Morgan Schum (diving), Julie Heltzel (500 freestyle) and Jennifer Heltzel (100 backstroke) each paddled to first-place finishes for the Patriots, who swept the three relay events.
