Jasper woman charged with neglect of a dependent

JASPER — A Jasper woman was arrested for neglect of a dependent and several other misdemeanors Saturday morning.
At 1:18 a.m., the Jasper Police Department was notified of someone leaving their residence on foot with a juvenile while intoxicated. Andrea Torres, 20, was later located in the Germantown Shopping Center parking lot with the juvenile. Torres was taken into custody and the juvenile was released to the family.
Torres was taken to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center for a chemical test and was charged with neglect of a dependent, a level 6 felony; minor consumption, a Class C misdemeanor; and public intoxication, a Class B misdemeanor.
