December 21, 2020By Herald Staff
JASPER — A Jasper woman faces OWI and several drug charges after police stopped her Saturday afternoon after a report of a possible intoxicated driver.
After police received a call that the driver was in a maroon Nissan with temporary plates, a matching vehicle was found in the Dollar General parking lot off of Manheim Road. Officers waited for the vehicle to leave and then began following it.
After officers observed the car cross the center line several times, the traffic stop was conducted near 43rd and Covington Lane. The driver was identified as 39-year-old Patricia M. Mahan of Jasper, who appeared to be under the influence, officers said.
Mahan was offered a field sobriety test and failed and was then transported to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, where she tested positive for benzodiazepine and buprenorphine.
She was charged with OWI, possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana and was placed in the Dubois County Security Center.
