JASPER — Police investigating an anonymous tip Tuesday reporting drug activity took a woman they contacted into custody on a totally different matter.
Officers with the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police were investigating the anonymous report in Jasper at 2:35 p.m. when they made contact with Leslie B. Elliott, 41, 448 W. 43rd St., Jasper.
While talking with Elliott, it was learned she had allegedly entered a garage at a Huntingburg residence without permission earlier in the day and left items there.
A Huntingburg Police Department officer who was called to assist recovered items inside the garage allegedly left by Elliott.
Authorities booked Elliott into the Dubois County Security Center at 5:59 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of residential entry.
