Jasper VFW Post #673 Auxiliary held its regular monthly meeting on July 21, 2021, at the post home. President Carrie Vonderheide called the meeting to order and conducted opening ceremonies. In absence of the Chaplain, President Vonderheide gave opening prayers. The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all.
Secretary Connie Thewes reports that there is one petition for rejoining membership this month. The Investigating Committee found the petition to be in order and recommended for membership.
Secretary Thewes read minutes of the June meeting. The minutes were approved as read. General Orders, greetings from the Department President, and a note from #673 Honor Guard thanking us for our donation were read.
Treasurer Diane Brescher read financial reports for June. The reports were filed subject to audit.
On the business of the Highway Clean Up Project, a work session is scheduled for July 26 at 5 p.m.
On the business of a 2021 Christmas party, chairwoman for committees are Kathy Kluemper, Booking Coordinator and Entertainment; Jane Schaeffer, prizes; Marsha Opel, Food.
President Vonderheide shares that the following awards were presented at State Spring Conference:
• President Carrie Vonderheide - 1st Place Reporting for Scholarship Program, Auxiliary 673.
• Auxiliary - Certificates of Merit for All State President Programs, for Hosting Event for Women’s Veteran Health Care, and for Membership Goals.
• Post #673 - Certificates of Merit for Youth Activities Division Reporting and for Patriotism Through Literacy Work.
Closing ceremonies were conducted in accordance with the ritual. The meeting was closed with prayer by President Vonderheide, after which the meeting was adjourned.
The next meeting will be Aug. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Jasper post, 3131 Newton St. All members are encouraged to attend.
