Jasper VFW Post 673 Auxiliary

Jasper VFW Post 673 Auxiliary held its regular monthly meeting on May 19, 2021, at the post home. President Carrie Vonderheide called the meeting to order and conducted opening ceremonies. In absence of the Chaplain, President Vonderheide gave the opening prayer. The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all.

The Secretary reports that this month there are three petitions for new membership and one petition for rejoining. The Investigating Committee found the petitions to be in order and recommended all for membership. A voice vote was taken, and there was a unanimous decision to accept the new and rejoining member petitions.

On May 18, a memorial service was held at the post home for deceased post and auxiliary members who passed in 2020 - 2021. Following the service, Patriot’s Pen and Voice of Democracy contest winners read the winning compositions. In addition to the students, the ceremony was attended by parents, post and auxiliary officers, and invited guests. The winners were presented with certificates and cash awards, after which pizzas and desserts were served.

In order to allow additional time needed for the installation ceremony, reading of minutes, financials, and other communication was deferred from this meeting and will be read at the next meeting.

The installation ceremony for newly-elected officers for the year beginning July 1, 2021, was conducted by Past-President Connie Meyer. Officers for the ensuing year are: President - Carrie Vonderheide; Sr. Vice - Marsha Opel; Jr. Vice - Jane Vogler; Treasurer - Diane Brescher; Chaplain & Patriotic Instructor - Linda Reuber; Guard - Rose Beck; Conductress - Bev Schnell; Trustees - KathyKluemper, Jane Vogler and Jane Schaeffer; Secretary - Connie Thewes.

Closing ceremonies were conducted in accordance with the ritual. The meeting was closed with prayer by President Vonderheide, after which the meeting was adjourned.

The next meeting will be June 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Jasper post, 3131 Newton St. All members are encouraged to attend.
