Jasper VFW Post 673 Auxiliary held its regular monthly meeting on Nov. 18, 2020, at the post home. President Carrie Vonderheide called the meeting to order and conducted opening ceremonies. In absence of the Chaplain, President Vonderheide gave the opening prayer. The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all.
President Vonderheide introduced District Auxiliary President Sue Shoultz, and she was given a warm welcome. President Shoultz shared that auditing of the auxiliary books would be conducted following the close of business of this meeting.
The Secretary reports that there are no petitions for new membership this month. There was one application to transfer membership into Jasper Post #673 from another post. The Investigating Committee found the petition to be in order. A voice vote was taken, and there was a unanimous decision to accept the newly transferred member.
Minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed by the secretary and approved as read.
General Orders #6 from VFW Auxiliary Dept. of Indiana were read and filed for reference. Also read were greetings from Dept. of Indiana President, Anna Mauk.
Treasurer Diane Brescher read the monthly financial report. The report was filed subject to audit.
On the business of the Patriots Pen Contest, President Vonderheide shares that there were 159 entries. Our level of judging is complete, and the finalists’ essays have been forwarded to District for the next round of judging.
Closing ceremonies were conducted in accordance with the ritual. The meeting was closed with prayer by President Vonderheide, after which the meeting was adjourned.
The Auxiliary will not meet in December. The next meeting will be Jan. 20, 2021, at 6:30 p.m. at the post home. The recommended COVID-19 safety protocols will be observed. All members are invited to attend.
