Jasper VFW Post 673 Auxiliary

Jasper VFW Post 673 Auxiliary held its regular monthly meeting on Sept. 16, 2020, at the post home. President Carrie Vonderheide called the meeting to order, conducted opening ceremonies and gave the opening prayer. The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all.

The Secretary reports that there were no petitions for new membership this month.

Minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed by the secretary and approved as read.

General Orders #3 from VFW Auxiliary Dept. of Indiana were read and filed for reference. Also read were greetings from Dept. of Indiana President. President Mauk reminds that our annual Fall Conference will be on Oct. 25, 2020, at the Indianapolis Marriott East.

Treasurer Diane Brescher read the monthly financial report. The report was filed subject to audit.

On the business of the Patriots Pen Contest, President Vonderheide reports that she has received the entry forms. The forms will be delivered to schools promptly. Entry deadline is Oct. 31, 2020.

On the business of the Auxiliary-Post Christmas party, there will be no event held in December 2020 due to the uncertainty of the coronavirus. The tentative plan is to hold a 2021 Spring Fling celebration.

President Vonderheide reports that the President’s Special Project this year is nut sales. Proceeds from the sales will benefit the War Dogs project which transitions retired military dogs, through pet adoption, to the dog’s handler or to a civilian.

President Vonderheide shared that Jasper Post #673 will host the District 8 meeting this fall. The meeting date is Nov. 15 with opening ceremonies at 10 a.m. Doughnuts and coffee will be served prior to the start time, but there will be no meal following the meeting. COVID-19 safety guidelines will be observed.

Closing ceremonies were conducted in accordance with the ritual and, and the meeting was closed with prayer by President Vonderheide, after which the meeting was adjourned.

The next meeting will be Oct. 21, 2020, at 6:30 p.m. at the post home. All members are invited to attend. The recommended COVID-19 safety protocols will be observed.
