The Jasper boys track team competed in their first meet of the season on Wednesday in the Bloomington North Indoor Invitational at Indiana University’s Gladstein Fieldhouse.
The Wildcats kicked off their season with several impressive finishes including Sam DeWitt coming home second in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.52, falling just short of Bloomington South’s Chase Washington who finished first with a time of 8.37.
Malik Chatman also had a pair of top-10 finishes for the Cats as he finished sixth in the long jump and also finished eighth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.29.
Jasper also had four relay teams in action as the 4x800 meter relay team placed third, the 4x400 meter relay team placed fourth, the distance medley team came home fifth and the 4x200 meter relay team finished in seventh.
The Wildcats will be back in action on March 29 at Tell City.
