Jasper tennis duo bows at state tournament

INDIANAPOLIS — Mitch Kluemper and Grant Stratton, Jasper’s No. 1 doubles team that qualified for the  state tennis tournament with a 19-4 record, managed to win only two sets in 14 Friday afternoon when the duo challenged the team of Bryant Zitlaw and Tim Steiner of Fort Wayne Homestead.

The Jasper doubles team was eliminated from the state tournament by a 6-2, 6-0 tally.

Zitlaw and Steiner then bowed in Saturday’s semifinals to the Carmel duo of Uday Lomada and Jones McNamer. The Carmel team then claimed the state championship with a 26-0 record by handing Charlie Morton and Kathir Venkat of Munster their only loss of the season.
