Jasper state title game set for Friday night

Jasper's quest for a sixth baseball state championship is set for Friday night at Victory Field in Indianapolis. The Class 3A game will be the lone Friday game, with the first pitch set for 7:30 p.m. between the No. 1 Wildcats (32-3) and No. 3 Norwell (32-3). The game will be a rematch of the 2006 Class 3A final, when Jasper rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 13-12 victory.

In the Class 1A state championship game, Vincennes Rivet (19-12) will meet No. 2 Lafayette Central Catholic (30-5) at 1 p.m. Saturday. In Class 2A, South Spencer (22-8) will play No. 1 Northfield (29-3) at 4 p.m. Saturday. In Class 4A, No. 2 Indianapolis Cathedral (28-0) and No. 3 Elkhart Central (31-1) will tangle at 7 p.m. Saturday.
