Jasper reminds what not to flush
March 23, 2020From Local Sources
JASPER — The Jasper Wastewater Department is reminding residents to not flush anything other than toilet paper.
According to a news release from the department, wipes and paper towels do not break down like toilet paper and clog systems quickly. Flushing wipes — even those labeled as flushable — and other non-toilet-paper materials causes clogs, backups, equipment and pipe breakages, and in bad cases, can force raw sewage back into peoples’ homes.
The city reminds residents of its “Do Not Flush List,” which includes: diapers, paper towels, facial tissue, cotton swabs, hair, gum wrappers, candy wrappers, facial pads, dental floss, cigarettes, cotton balls, scoops of kitty litter, women’s hygiene products, all-purpose cleaning wipes, adhesive bandages, makeup remover wipes, baby and adult wipes.
If you have any questions or concerns, call the Jasper wastewater treatement facilities at 812-482-3277.
