JASPER — Police took a Jasper man into custody late Thursday night and accused him of impaired driving.
A Jasper Police Department officer was driving on Clay Street, south of First Street, when a pickup truck failed to yield as it pulled from a lot in front of the officer at 11:20 p.m. The officer had to stop to allow the truck to pull out.
Police allege the driver of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, Aaron T. Hassfurther, 50, 2225 Fern Drive, Jasper, then failed to stop at Second and Main streets.
Authorities said Hassfurther’s blood alcohol content later tested .128% in a certified test at the Jasper Police Station.
Hassfurther was booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 12:59 a.m. today on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated.
