From Local Sources
JASPER — A Jasper man has been charged with felony child molesting.
The charges against Franklin K. Gramelspacher, 45, 1440 Leopold St., Jasper, came after the Jasper Police Department launched a child abuse investigation Tuesday.
Charging information alleges Gramelspacher had sexual contact with a child under the age of 14 twice this summer.
Gramelspacher was taken into custody without incident Thursday by Jasper police and Dubois County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
Authorities booked Gramelspacher into the Dubois County Security Center at 9:58 a.m. on two Level 1 felony counts of child molesting. During an initial hearing later in the day in Dubois Circuit Court, Judge Nathan Verkamp denied a request for pretrial release, set bond at $50,000 and ordered Gramelspacher to have no contact with the victim and the victim’s mother.
Police report the investigation is continuing and more charges are expected.
Gramelspacher’s next court date is set for Sept. 23.
