Jasper police arrest habitual traffic offender

JASPER — A Sunday afternoon traffic stop led to a Jasper man’s arrest after police discovered he was a habitual traffic violator.

The traffic stop was conducted around 2 p.m., where Jasper Police Department officers found Bennie Rust, 50, was driving a car with a license plate registered to a different vehicle. Upon further investigation, Rust was found to have a driver’s license status of “Habitual Traffic Violator-Life.”

Rust was arrested and transported to the Dubois County Security Center and was charged with operating a motor vehicle after lifetime suspension, a Level 5 felony.
