Jasper police arrest alleged Walmart shoplifter

JASPER — The Jasper Police Department took a woman into custody Sunday afternoon for allegedly shoplifting at Walmart Supercenter, 4040 N. Newton St.

Police received a report of a shoplifter being detained by asset protection staff at 5:03 p.m.

Authorities allege Valerie G. Kippenbrock, 44, 444 Schuetter Road, Jasper, paid for $27.78 worth of merchandise at a self-checkout station but failed to pay for $94.19 worth of items that reportedly included food, clothing and a curling iron.

Kippenbrock was booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 6:05 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of theft. She posted bond a short time later.
