Jasper police arrest alleged Walmart shoplifter

JASPER — The Jasper Police Department took an Orange County man into custody Saturday night for allegedly shoplifting at Walmart Supercenter, 4040 N. Newton St.
Police received a report of a shoplifter being detained by asset protection staff at 8:59 p.m.
Authorities allege Jareth C.J. Wininger, 20, French Lick, attempted to take a Roku stick and a cellphone accessory with a total value of $68.35 and took at least one of those items out of its packaging. Police also reported that Wininger initially gave authorities a false name and date of birth.
Wininger was booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 11:03 p.m. on preliminary misdemeanor counts of theft, criminal mischief and false informing.
