Jasper office manager receives Peabody awardFebruary 27, 2014
From local sources
JASPER — Jasper High School office manager Deb Schum was named a Peabody Energy Leader in Education at a surprise convocation today.
Schum received a $1,000 check and will be eligible for a regional prize of $5,000 to be awarded later in the school year. In a press release, Peabody Energy said Schum was chosen for the award because she “finds time to nurture students who stop by for a kind word, an encouraging talk or a much-needed hug.”
The Peabody Energy Leaders in Education campaign recognizes leaders in communities in Indiana, Illinois, Missouri and Wyoming, where Peabody Energy, a private-sector coal company, operates.
