JASPER — A resident at Good Samaritan Society's Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper has died from COVID-19, according to a statement from the community's administrator, Diana Jones.
Five other residents and three employees have also tested positive for the virus.
"This is truly a sad time for our entire Good Samaritan Society family," the statement reads. "Every resident who comes through our doors becomes family, and losing these cherished members of our family weighs heavily on our hearts. We pray for peace and comfort for their loved ones."
According to the statement, Northwood has been closely following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Indiana State Department of Health to ensure its infection control measures meet the needs of the ever-evolving pandemic.
