Jasper man injured in moped accident

JASPER — A Jasper man was injured in a moped accident Wednesday.

The Jasper Police Department responded to an accident involving a moped and car near 31 Clay Street. Officers determined that Mark Wright, 42, crossed his moped over the center line and side-swiped Joan Hentrup, 79, of Jasper.

Wright, who sustained injuries to his face, hands and legs, was transported to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. No other injuries were reported on the scene. Wright’s moped was considered a total loss and Hentrup’s vehicle had $1,500 in damages. Memorial Hospital, Jasper Volunteer Fire Department and Sternberg’s wrecker services assisted on scene.
