LOOGOOTEE — Indiana State Police say a Jasper man is being charged in connection with allegations of rape and child molestation.

State police were contacted Tuesday to assist the Loogootee Police Department in investigating a reported rape.

During the course of a state police detective’s investigation, it was allegedly discovered that Dakota L. Browning, 26, Jasper, had met a juvenile victim at a graduation party and had went to a residence in Loogootee with the victim following the party.

In the early morning hours of Sunday, May 26, according to state police, it is alleged that Browning went into the bedroom where the victim was sleeping and had sexual intercourse with her against her will.

The investigation gathered enough probable cause for the Martin Circuit Court to issue an arrest warrant charging Browning the Level 1 felony child molestation and Level 3 felony rape.
