Jasper man accused of public intoxication

JASPER — Police took a man into custody early Sunday after fielding a report about an intoxicated man knocking on doors and stumbling in the roadway.

The 2:36 a.m. call took Jasper Police Department officers to the 400 block of Giesler Road where Zachary R. Hoppenjans, 26, 505 Sycamore Manor, Jasper, was located asleep halfway under a parked vehicle in a driveway of a residence.

Police said Hoppenjans was found to be under the influence of alcohol with a portable breath test result of .226%.

Authorities booked Hoppenjans into the Dubois County Security Center at 3:52 a.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of public intoxication. He posted bond Sunday evening.
