Jasper man accused of public intoxication

JASPER — Police accused a Jasper man of public intoxication after being called early Sunday to the report of a man passed out on a sidewalk.

The Jasper Police Department was called to the 400 block of Newton Street at 4 a.m.

An officer encountered A.J. Hayes, 24, 502 W. Village Court, Jasper, sitting on the step of a business. Police said Hayes was unable to converse and his blood alcohol content tested .21% on a portable breath tester.

Authorities booked Hayes into the Dubois County Security Center at 4:41 a.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of public intoxication.
