Jasper Library launches DNA Interest Group

JASPER — The Jasper Public Library will be starting a DNA Interest Group at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, in the Genealogy Room.

Participants will be able to ask questions about DNA testing and interpreting test results to aide in genealogy and family research. Group discussions will be lead by Dubois County Genealogist Kathy Mott and Mike Humbert, local family historian. The group will meet on a monthly basis in an informal setting with much of the discussion being participant driven. Attendees can discuss their personal experiences with DNA information and research, various testing protocols, maximizing results from internet sources, and share accomplishments and struggles.  The purpose of the group is to encourage and assist one another in their family research.

Registration is being accepted at http://www.eventkeeper.com/mars/xpages/J/JDCPL/ekp.cfm?curOrg=JDCPL. Registration is encouraged for planning purposes, but is not required to attend.

As always for library programs, there is no cost to participate. No membership commitment will be required and new participation will always be welcome. Contact Jill Watson, reference librarian, if you have specific questions.
