Jasper girls track issues awards

Jasper girls track recently held its banquet, and dished out awards to different recipients.

Senior Leadership Award: Grace Kizior

Die Hard Award: Andi VanMeter

Most Field Event Point Award: Mya Stiles

Most Running Point Award: Andi VanMeter

Heimatfest Basketball

Basketball will be on hand on June 19 at this year's Heimatfest.

The 3-on-3 games will start at 10 a.m. of three divisions, with eight teams allowed per division. There's the elementary school division, which requires participants going into grades three through five. The middle school division requires participants to be heading into grades six through eight, while the open division requires participants to be an incoming high school student or older.

The entry fee is $40 per team, and pre-registration is required. The first place teams of each division will receive T-Shirts. Contact David Welp at 812-639-1804 to register.

Heimatfest Run

The 18th Annual 5K Run/Walk and Kid’s Fun Run is set for June 19, with a 3.1 mile course around Ferdinand. The race will begin and end at Forest Park High School, with the last 30 meters coming on Forest Park’s track. People are asked to park in the East Parking lot by the gym and track. The Fun Run Races will be 400 and 800 meters on the track for children ages 12 and under.

Awards will be handed out to each age group — from nine and under through 70 and over. Results will be on ferdinandindiana.org, with free ribbons for every Fun Run participant.

The entry fees vary. It’s $15 for the 5K Run/Walk before June 14, $20 afterward. The Fun Run for kids is free without a T-Shirt, and $8 with a kids sized T-Shirt.
