JASPER — Units of the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department responded to an alarm activation Saturday afternoon at Jasper High School.
There was no fire associated with the 4:45 p.m. alarm at 1600 St. Charles St., according to Fire Chief Kenny Hochgesang. Instead, he added, firefighters found a faulty detector in an elevator equipment room.
The department bypassed that detector and successfully reset the system before departing.
Three trucks and 19 firefighters were on the scene 45 minutes.
