Jasper firefighters make weekend runs

JASPER — Members of the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department made three fire runs during the weekend period.
The first, at 4:12 p.m. Friday, involved an alarm activation at IFI’s facility at 1095 W. 100S.
Fire Chief Kenny Hochgesang said the activation was found to involve a test of the alarm system.
Four trucks and 23 firefighters were on the scene 10 minutes.
Then, at 10:07 p.m. Friday, the department was called to the Jasper Lofts, 1300 Dewey St.
Hochgesang said smoking activity in an apartment resulted in a small area being burned in some carpet.
Five trucks and 27 firefighters were on the scene 25 minutes.
Finally, at 9:32 p.m. Saturday, firefighters responded to an alarm at the Health Pointe facility at 1900 St. Charles St.
Hochgesang said the callout was found to involve a faulty smoke detector.
Four trucks and 31 firefighters were on the scene 15 minutes.
