Jasper firefighters handle 3 weekend runsJuly 16, 2019
From Local Sources
JASPER — No damage resulted from any of the three weekend runs by the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department.
The first, at 10:36 a.m. Saturday, sent firefighters to Forest Products Mfg. Co. Inc., 51 30th St.
Fire Chief Kenny Hochgesang said a water flow alarm had activated but there was no cause found for the activation. The department turned the issue over to plant maintenance.
Two trucks and 15 firefighters were on the scene 25 minutes.
Then, at 8:57 a.m. Sunday, an alarm activated at the Holiday Inn Express, 2000 Hospitality Drive.
That incident involved a sensitive detector and a guest who was vaping, according to Hochgesang.
Two trucks and 24 firefighters were on the scene seven minutes.
Finally, at 11:47 a.m. Sunday, an alarm activated at St. Charles Health Campus, 3150 St. Charles St.
Once again, Hochgesang said, there was no fire. Instead, he added, kitchen staff were draining grease from a fryer and some water contacted the hot cooking vessel.
Two trucks and 24 firefighters were on the scene 15 minutes.
