Jasper expands acceptable items for recycling
March 23, 2020From Local Sources
In an effort to reduce the amount of trash that is taken to the landfill, the City of Jasper Street Department will expand the type of plastic items accepted for curbside collection, beginning the week of April 6.
The acceptable plastic items will now include the following:
• Plastic bottles & jugs with either #1 or #2 on them, these include: milk jugs; water bottles; soda bottles; juice bottles; detergent jugs; soap bottles and shampoo bottles. Caps must be removed and discarded into the trash; however, labels need not be removed.
Plastic items not accepted are: lids; bowls; cups; buckets (ice cream buckets, etc.); trays; styrofoam; cooking oil bottles; and pressed plastic (clamshell packaging). These items will not be picked up and should not be mixed with the acceptable items. The items which are not accepted, should go into your trash.
