Jasper eliminated in state semifinals
October 17, 2020By Herald Staff
Carmel won its fifth consecutive boys state championship on Saturday, and it swept Jasper, 5-0, along the way.
The Wildcats could not win a set or a match in Saturday's state semifinal at North Central. Juniors Justin Shultz and Max Sternberg had a competitive showing in the One Singles and Two Singles, respectively, but it did not suffice in Carmel's 5-0 win. The five-peat was clinched in a 3-2 win against North Central.
Bell/Thyen eliminated
Saturday was also the end of the line for Southridge seniors Ethan Bell and Konner Thyen, who fell in the individual Bedford North Lawrence Regional against seniors Ethan Uhls and Marcell Borhi of Bloomington South. Bell and Thyen could not muster a point, and fell, 6-0, 6-0.
