Jasper motorcycle shop saves the day

To the editor:

My wife and I were on a motorcycle trip last Labor day week end. Rolling into French Lick on State Road 56 on Friday, my front tire went flat. The valve stem failed and was leaking. Unfortunately, no garage in French Lick would work on a motorcycle.

I remember visiting Obermeyer Honda-Yamaha-Suzuki in Jasper a few years ago while driving through that lovely town on business. So I called them from French Lick and asked if they could work me in on such short notice. They said if I could get it there, they'd fix it. Luckily, I keep a small air compressor with me on my bike. After pulling over twice to refill the tire with my painfully slow battery operated air compressor, I was able to limp it over to Jasper.

The folks at Obermeyer were extremely sympathetic, friendly and professional! They immediately pulled the bike in and had a new valve stem installed in about 20 minutes! We had a nice chat with the staff while we waited. I asked the knowledgeable mechanic how he managed to do it so quickly, assuming he'd have to pull the front wheel to replace the valve stem. He smiled and said "I know a few tricks." The cost for the valve stem and labor was very reasonable! I surely wish we had a Honda shop this good near my town.

Thank you, Obermeyer!
